The adorable pictures of a mother playing cricket with her son at a stadium in Bangladesh went viral on social media over the weekend. According to reports in the local media, the boy reached the stadium with his mother for a cricket practice. However, he started playing the game with his mother while waiting for the coaches and trainers to arrive.

The mother, named Jhuma Akhtar, played cricket with her 11-year-old son Sheikh Yameen Sunan at Paltan Maidan, Bangladesh. The images show the mother batting while the son is bowling. The son also imitated Shahid Afridi’s signature style when he claimed a wicket.

It was also reported that the mother-son duo took their turns to bat and ball. Sunan seemed excited when his mother bowled at him. The Bangladeshi media has reported that the boy studies at the Sunan Al-Karim International Madrassa and loves to play cricket.

Bangladesh cricket team to reach Sri Lanka

Meanwhile, the viral coronavirus has halted sporting activities across the world. International cricket is gradually picking up. But Bangladesh cricket team will reach Sri Lanka for the 2020 international cricket series soon.

The Sri Lankan Cricket Board has told Bangladesh Cricket Board that the guest team will have to be quarantined for a week after reaching Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh cricket team is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka on September 27th. The first test series between both teams is scheduled for October 23rd.

However, there are reports that the Bangladesh cricket team is reeling with sponsors ahead of its tour to Sri Lanka. The BCB is looking for short-term sponsorship. Observers say the coronavirus has made the task of finding sponsors for the team difficult for all the cricket boards.

BCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said the board is trying to find sponsors for the team only for the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.

“There is no sponsor for our national team right now. No sponsor will come if the games take place. In such a reality, we’re looking for a sponsor temporarily,” Chowdhury told The Independent last weekend.
