United States’ secretary of state Mike Pompeo on Thursday warned that Turkey’s involvement within the battle between Azerbaijan and Armenia has elevated the danger within the area.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have been a part of the Soviet Union and have been concerned in a territorial battle since gaining independence throughout the 1990s. The fundamental concern is the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh area, internationally recognised as a part of Azerbaijan however managed by ethnic Armenians.
The combating over Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on September 27. Each aspect has accused the opposite of concentrating on civilians. Both sides have rejected talks and ignored rising worldwide requires a ceasefire.
Turkey has accused Armenia of occupying Azeri territory and vowed full assist for Azerbaijan.  According to figures by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, Turkey’s army exports to its ally Azerbaijan have risen six-fold earlier than the combating over Nagorno-Karabakh broke out.
“We now have the Turks, who have stepped in and provided resources to Azerbaijan, increasing the risk, increasing the firepower that’s taking place in this historic fight. The resolution of that conflict ought to be done through negotiation and peaceful discussions, not through armed conflict, and certainly not with third party countries coming in to lend their firepower to what is already a powder keg of a situation”, Pompeo mentioned in an interview.
“We’re hopeful that the Armenians will be able to defend against what the Azerbaijanis are doing, and that they will all, before that takes place, get the ceasefire right, and then sit down at the table and try and sort through this”, he added.
