Palestinian Boxer Nidal Foqahaa Aims for Olympic Podium with National Flag

Date:

Nidal Foqahaa, a 19-year-old Palestinian boxer, made history by winning bouts at the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Foqahaa is now aiming to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Despite not winning a medal at the IBA event, Foqahaa’s achievement was significant as he had lost his place on the national team less than 10 months earlier due to poor performances. The Palestinian Boxing Federation has limited funding, so Foqahaa relies on development aid from the IBA and assistance from the Elbario club. He hopes to gain the skills he needs to compete in Olympic qualifying competitions during a six-month camp in Russia.
