Pakistan’s Buddhist heritage on display in Sri Lanka

Buddhist heritage of Pakistan is on display in Sri Lanka in an exhibition inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan last week on his maiden tour.

The exhibition displayed the pictures of the original artifacts and sculptures excavated from the popular heritage sites of Takht-e-Bahi (Mardan) and Taxila in Pakistan, dating back to between the first and fifth centuries.

The exhibition was arranged by the Press Wing of Pakistan High Commission Sri Lanka. The photos were taken and specially prepared for the occasion by the External Publicity Wing, Minister for Information and Broadcast, Pakistan.

Sri Lankan Youth Affair Minister Namal Rajapaksa visited the photo exhibition along with the Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywerdena. They both appreciated and showed the exhibition.

The exhibition also displayed the booklets, pamphlets, and other material reflecting the Gandhara Civilization in Pakistan.

Pakistan is keen to promote religious tourism between both countries. With the exhibition, Pakistan wants to familiarize the people of Sri Lanka with the rich heritage history of Pakistan.

Last week, PM Imran Khan had embarked on his maiden two-day tour to Sri Lanka. The host country paid a gracious tribute to the cricketing legacy of Prime Minister Imran Khan with a special video documentary played in his honor at an event. PM Imran Khan shared the video on his official Twitter and Instagram and expressed gratitude to the government for honoring him.

The documentary revisited the glorious cricketing days of Imran Khan. It was played when Imran Khan reached to inaugurate the High-Performance Sports Complex in Colombo on his two-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

The documentary showed decades-old love and respect for Imran Khan in Sri Lanka. by showing Imran Khan as one of the most celebrated cricketers in Sri Lanka. The documentary also highlighted the special relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Diplomatic relations between the two countries are strong as Pakistan offered assistance to Sri Lanka on various occasions.
