Iraqi air force commander Major General Shihab Jahid Ali Shakarchi visited Pakistan’s Air Headquarters, in Islamabad. Gen Shihab’s trip is aimed at reaffirming ‘brotherly ties’ between Pakistan and Iraq.
Gen Shihab met with Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan. Gen Shihab was also presented with the guard of honor by the air force.

Iraqi air force commander pays homage to martyrs

Gen Shihab paid homage to PAF martyrs and laid a floral wreath at the ‘Yadgar-e-shuhada’ when he visited.

The statement shared also on twitter read that,” the Commander Iraqi Air Force met with Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan. The two leaders discussed issues of regional security and co-operation. The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force and commended the extraordinary progress made by the Pakistan Air Force in the field of self-reliance.”

The statement added further that, “the Chief of Air Staff discussed ‘brotherly’ relations and cooperation between Pakistan and Iraq. The two dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to take the prevalent friendly relations between the Air Forces to new heights.”

The Iraqi general also called on General Nadeem Raza, chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

“Matters of bilateral professional interest and further strengthening of security and defense cooperation between the two countries were discussed during the meeting,” the statement concluded.
