32 Daesh Suspects Detained in Turkey for Planning Attacks on Churches and Synagogues

Istanbul: Turkish security forces have detained 32 suspects over alleged links with Daesh terrorists who were planning attacks on churches and synagogues as well as the Iraqi embassy, a security source told AFP on Friday. The Turkish Intelligence Organization (MIT) and police carried out dawn raids in nine cities including Istanbul and the capital Ankara against the group, the source said. Three of the suspects were allegedly senior members of the extremist group.

11 killed in road accident in northwestern Turkey – media

ANKARA: Eleven people were killed and more than 50 injured in a road accident in northwestern Turkiye on Thursday, local media reported. The crash involved seven vehicles, including three buses and a truck on the North Marmara highway near the Dagdibi neighborhood of Sakarya province, according to the state-owned Anadolu news agency. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, Anadolu said. Private news channel NTV said the area was covered with heavy fog and visibility was low.

ANKARA: Turkish authorities have detained 304 people suspected of having ties to militant group Daesh in operations across 32 provinces, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Friday. The majority of the suspects were detained in Turkiye’s three biggest cities of Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir, Yerlikaya said on social messaging platform X. He said the operation, “Operation Heroes-34,” was carried out simultaneously across the country.
