A major development in the case of rape of a woman on the motorway, the accused Shafqat was arrested by the police on the indication of Waqar Al Hassan, the DNA of the accused Shafqat was matched according to DUNYA News. Shafqat Ali was arrested yesterday. During the interrogation, accused Waqar Al-Hassan gave information about Shafqat.

Earlier, accused Waqar Al-Hassan committed suicide, after which Waqar’s brother Nasbati Abbas also surrendered to the law. According to sources, Abbas was using a SIM issued in the name of accused Waqar. Abbas handed himself over to the police in Sheikhupura.

Accused Waqar, who made the self-arrest, said during interrogation that accused Abid had been having an affair with a man named Shafqat for some time. Shafqat is a resident of Bahawalnagar and a friend of Abid Ali. According to police sources, Waqar Al-Hassan was not found involved in the incident in the preliminary investigation. The DNA of the accused did not match. It is yet to be confirmed whether the accused was present at the spot or not.

On the other hand, Abid Ali, the main accused in the rape case, has not yet been arrested, which calls into question the performance of the police. Police have arrested seven more people, including close relatives of accused Abid Ali.

Meanwhile, CCPO Lahore apologized for the controversial statement on the issue of rape of a woman on the motorway. “I apologize if the statement offended anyone. I apologize to the victim and all sections. My statement was not meant to give a wrong impression,” he said.

Woman raped in Lahore

An unidentified woman, a resident of Gujranwala, was traveling on the motorway near Lahore when her car ran out of petrol in the Gujjarpura area on Tuesday night. She waited for her husband and called the Motorway Police’s emergency helpline 130 for help.

While she was stranded on the road, two unidentified persons from the nearby area approached the car and forcefully brought the woman out of the vehicle and allegedly raped her in the nearby fields. She said she was also deprived of Rs1000,000 cash, and other valuables by the culprits.
