Singer Lana Del Rey was slammed more than her evaluation of Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and other feminine musicians in an Instagram write-up Thursday addressing criticism she glamorizes abuse.
The “Younger and Lovely” hitmaker started the prolonged statement posted to her account with: “Dilemma for the lifestyle.”
“Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have experienced amount types with tracks about becoming captivating, sporting no clothing, f——, dishonest, etcetera — can I remember to go again to singing about currently being embodied, experience beautiful by staying in appreciate even if the relationship is not fantastic, or dancing for revenue — or what ever I want — without having currently being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse?” Del Rey asked.
She went on to say: “I am fed up with woman writers and alt singers indicating that I glamorize abuse when in truth I am just a glamorous particular person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are really common emotionally abusive associations all more than the environment.”
Del Rey, born Elizabeth Grant, wrote that she is “not not a feminist,” but that there has to be a location in feminism for “ladies who seem and act like me — the type of lady who suggests no but adult males hear yes — the sort of gals who are slated mercilessly for remaining their genuine, sensitive selves.”
“I’ve been sincere and optimistic about the hard relationships I’ve experienced,” the singer wrote. “Information flash! That’s just how it is for a lot of gals.”

On her before albums, Del Rey was tagged as “sadcore,” The Los Angeles Times documented in Oct 2019, describing her career as “unconventional in many approaches.”

Cultural critic and writer Jamilah Lemieux tweeted: “I will not know who was providing Lana Del Rey a hard time but I am very positive it wasn’t Black girls. Female, sing your small cocaine carols and leave us on your own.”
Writer and activist Shon Faye tweeted: “believe Lana’s article would have been good if she hadn’t as opposed herself to a group of mostly black females with the obvious tone that she thinks she’s been taken care of even worse by the media when which is observably untrue.”
Del Rey wrote in her statement that it has been “a lengthy ten yrs of bulls— critiques up until finally recently,” which she has discovered from, “but I also really feel it truly paved the way for other females to cease ‘putting on a delighted face’ and to just be in a position to say whichever the hell they desired to in their audio.”
