The provincial government of Khyber Pakktunkhwa (KP) on Saturday announced the construction of a national cricket stadium in Kalam Valley, Swat.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf KP chapter confirmed the news on its official Twitter handle. The provincial government even shared the prototype of the stadium on Twitter. “Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa @IMMahmoodKhan approves construction of cricket stadium in Kalam Valley Swat: Kalam Cricket Stadium to be constructed at a cost of Rs 607 million,” read the announcement on Twitter.

The cricket stadium will be built in the hometown of Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan. The stadium will have a capacity of 20,000 spectators. The stadium will reportedly have state-of-the-art facilities.

Kalam is a valley located at a distance of 99 kilometres (62 mi) from Mingora in the northern reaches of Swat valley, along the bank of Swat River in KP.

Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar is also undergoing expansion. The stadium previously had the capacity of 14,000 spectators, which will be extended to 35,000 following the ongoing renovation.

Back in 2018, PTI had announced to establish KP as the hub of tourism in the country. KP, due to its lush green beauty and splendid landscape, has been the source of attraction for foreign tourists in Pakistan.
