More than 2,000 lecturers in Kerala are but to take the coronavirus vaccine, with a lot of them citing their non secular religion as among the many causes for not getting the jab, Education Minister V Sivankutty stated on Saturday, because the state prepares to reopen colleges for bodily courses from November 1.

Sivankutty stated 2,282 lecturers within the state haven’t been vaccinated, and won’t be allowed to carry bodily courses in colleges.

“A section of them have cited health reasons such as allergy, while others are keeping away from Covid-19 vaccine in the name of faith. The government wants all teachers to take vaccine shots considering the future of students. But we are not going to issue any order. It is better such teachers keep away from the school premises and they can take online classes,” he stated.

Complete inoculation is necessary for all lecturers and non-teaching workers in Kerala’s colleges — a way state officers hope will operate as bio-bubble to stop outbreaks.
