Islamabad police officials will get health cards and houses: PM Imran

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan attended the passing out parade at police line headquarters as the chief guest, where he announced that Islamabad police officials will be given health cards to ease getting treatment at both public and private hospitals, and their own houses.

“I want to say two things to Islamabad police. The first thing is that every official will be given a health card which means that each household will have health insurance for availing treatment at any government or private hospital,” said the premier.

The Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme will allow government employees and police officials to be able to buy their own houses. “The installments you pay will go towards you owning your homes. This is a big part of our program, especially for government employees and police officials like yourself.”

First and foremost, the premier highlighted the importance of police in society. He lauded its services by stating that a country cannot thrive unless there is law and order and security for its citizens which is why “a police force has a very big role in society. But, up till now, that role has not yet been realized,” he lamented.

“The English had a different sort of force that looked after the people and considered them their own. But because they considered us slaves, the attitude of the police was different,” He said he wants Pakistanis to “consider the police as their own and love them.”

“When PTI’s government came into power in Kyber Pakhtunkhwa, the most amount of terrorism was against the police.”

“More than 500 police officers had been martyred and morale was low. But the force changed in front of our eyes and fought terrorism. Then there came a time when the people of Peshawar and Mardan staged rallies in support of the police.”

Addressing the graduates, Imran Khan said “You will always have two paths in front of you. Always pray to be put on the path of blessings and not the one that leads to your destruction.”
