Iran Summons Swiss Ambassador Over Tweet on Executions Linked to Protests
The Swiss ambassador to Tehran has been summoned by the Iranian government after the embassy tweeted a message calling for an end to executions linked to protests following the death of Mahsa Amini. The tweet, which also represented US interests in the country, condemned the execution of three men convicted of killing security force members during last year’s protests in Isfahan. The Iranian Foreign Ministry criticised the “unconventional and unprofessional use” of the embassy in republishing an image with a fake flag, and called for the action to be corrected.
