India police probe death of newborn ‘mauled by dog’ in hospital

Police in India are investigating allegations that a newborn newborn died just after remaining mauled by a stray pet at a hospital.

The parents alleged that their infant was alive and in an operating theatre when the puppy attacked.

The clinic, however, insists the toddler was stillborn.

Officers instructed the BBC that they had shut down the clinic, in the northern condition of Uttar Pradesh, as it was operating with no a licence.

Police say they are awaiting effects of the submit-mortem assessment to identify the lead to of loss of life.

“Early evidence indicates that the newborn was mauled by a pet dog. We are investigating how a pet dog entered the hospital,” district justice of the peace Manvendra Singh instructed the BBC.

“The hospital states the infant was stillborn and didn’t die for the reason that of the attack. But parents say the healthcare facility is lying. We are investigating the circumstance totally,” he additional.

The father informed the Times of India newspaper that the little one was inside of the functioning theatre when a member of the clinic team came jogging out of the area, stating a puppy had entered.
