A Pakistani journalist and political commentator, Imran Riaz Khan, has been missing for nearly two weeks after being escorted out of Sialkot International Airport by police officers. Khan, who has over three million YouTube followers, was reportedly flying to Oman after his house in Lahore was raided by police. His younger brother, Usman Riaz Khan, claims that the family was told by sources with the Punjab police that his brother had been taken to the police station after being arrested at Sialkot airport. However, the police have denied having him in custody. Khan’s disappearance has been condemned by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), which believes Pakistan’s spy agencies are involved. Pakistan has a poor record when it comes to media freedom and the safety of journalists.
