Hudson joins Qatari club a week after leaving American job

Date:

Anthony Hudson, former interim head coach of the US men’s national team, has signed a two-year contract with Al Markhiya in the Qatari soccer league. The club announced the news on their social media platforms, revealing that Hudson’s primary objective is to help Al Markhiya improve on their seventh-place finish in their first season after being promoted to the Qatar Stars League. Hudson resigned from his position with the US men’s team just a week before he was set to lead them in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals. He was replaced by BJ Callaghan. The US Soccer Federation confirmed that Hudson had taken a job with a club but did not disclose the team or role. Hudson was appointed as the US coach on January 4 and led the team to two wins, one loss, and two draws in his five games, making him the coach with the fewest games since John Kowalski in 1991.
