Cleveland outfielder Yasiel Puig grew to become a United States citizen on Wednesday, publishing a photograph on Twitter to celebrate the instant:

As Zack Meisel of The Athletic famous, Puig is the fourth member of the crew to come to be a citizen this 12 months, joiningย Carlos Santana, Hanley Ramirez and Oliver Perez.ย 

Puig, 28, defected from Cuba in 2012 with the dream of playing Big League Baseball. He then signed a seven-12 months, $forty two million offer with the Los Angeles Dodgers, paying out his initially six seasons with the club prior to remaining traded to the Cincinnati Reds in the offseason.

The Reds then transported him to Cleveland forward of the July 31 trade deadline. For the time, he is hitting .263 with 23 homers, 67 RBI, 56 runs and 16 stolen bases.ย ย
