PARIS (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron urged Iran on Tuesday to avoid any steps that could worsen tensions in the Center East following the killing of a top rated Iranian commander, Qassem Soleimani, in a U.S. drone strike in Iraq.

Next a mobile phone contact with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Macron also known as on Tehran to speedily return to full compliance with its commitments beneath a landmark 2015 nuclear offer with world powers.
