Fact-check: Are Punjab’s colleges being closed as a consequence of rising coronavirus circumstances?

The authorities of Punjab on Friday introduced {that a} notification doing the rounds on social media, stating that colleges in some districts of the province will shut, is pretend.

Taking to Twitter, the varsity training division of the Punjab authorities issued a clarification on this regard.

“Following notification being circulated, related to closure of schools in some districts, is FAKE,” it tweeted.

The notification that had been going viral over the web had mentioned that the provincial authorities had determined to shut colleges — each private and non-private — within the province from March 6-13 “in the wake of the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases”.

The notification mentioned colleges in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad can be closed for per week.
