NICOSIA (Reuters) – Cyprus claimed on Tuesday it was eager to interact with all its neighbours on defining maritime boundaries, amid a tense stand-off with Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean about jurisdiction in the power-abundant waters.

Greece and Cyprus are locked in a dispute with Turkey above overlapping promises to areas believed to be rich in pure gas. Two Turkish study vessels are in areas claimed by Greece and Cyprus. Turkey suggests it has legal rights in excess of the spots in dilemma.

Although not referring to Turkey straight, Cypriot Overseas Minister Nikos Christodoulides stated the island had maritime deals with Egypt, Israel and Lebanon “and was all set to go over with other neighbouring states on establishing sea zones”.
