Suspected Islamist militants have killed 35 civilians, 31 of them gals, in an assault on a navy foundation and a town in Burkina Faso, officials say.
They say 7 troopers and 80 militants have been also killed as the military repelled Tuesday’s attack in Arbinda, northern Soum province.
President Roch Marc Christian Kabore declared two days of national mourning in the landlocked West African place.
No group has so much said it was guiding the assault.
The assault of “uncommon depth” lasted numerous hours, Burkina Faso’s armed service claimed.
“In their flight, the terrorists cowardly murdered 35 civilians, which include 31 gals, and hurt six people today,” government spokesman Remis Dandjinou was quoted as stating by the AFP news agency.
