The Mandalorian Season 3 is set to introduce a new character named Bo-Katan Kryze, and fans are eager to know who will be playing the role. Bo-Katan Kryze is a Mandalorian woman who comes from the noble Kryze family and has a complicated past that is intertwined with that of her sister Satine.
Throughout her life, Bo-Katan worked her way up through the ranks of the Death Watch terrorist organization, eventually becoming the Nite Owls’ commanding officer, the head of the Mandalorian resistance, and ultimately the Mand’alor who seized control of her homeworld, Mandalore.
Bo-Katan believed that Mandalore should be proud of its warrior past and quickly joined Death Watch, a group that rejected the new pacifist government and advocated instead for honoring Mandalore’s fighting heritage. Her sister Satine, on the other hand, governed as Duchess of Mandalore but pushed for pacifist beliefs, bringing tension between the two sisters.
After Concordia Governor Pre Vizsla opted as Death Watch’s public leader, the splinter faction was banished from the Mandalore system. The Sith Lords Maul and Savage Opress were uncovered by Bo-Katan and Vizsla in 19 BBY.
Maul’s plotting gathered together several crime syndicates to establish the Shadow Collective, and together they conspired with the Sith to recapture Mandalore. Satine’s authority over Mandalore was overthrown after Vizsla launched a coup d’état there.
So who will be playing Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian Season 3? The role will be portrayed by Kathryn Ann “Katee” Sackhoff, an American actress who voiced Bo-Katan Kryze in Seasons 4, 5, and 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels.
Sackhoff grew up in St. Helens after being born in Portland. Her mom, Mary, was the coordinator of an English as a Second Language program, while her dad, Dennis, worked in real estate. She finished up at Sunset High School in Beaverton and earned her diploma in 1998.
Sackhoff started swimming when she was young and intended to make a career out of it until she hurt her right knee in high school. It was then that she decided to follow her dream of being an actress and start practicing yoga, both of which she does to this day.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is produced by Lucasfilm, Fairview Entertainment, and Golem Creations, with Jon Favreau serving as showrunner. Pedro Pascal stars as the title character, a bounty hunter who goes to Mandalore with his friend Grogu.
In addition to Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, The Mandalorian Season 3 will also feature other new characters and bring back some familiar faces from previous Star Wars properties.
